Sarah Weber started her business five years ago — but it was an accident.

The McCandless resident had spent years working in corporate health care, then in an advertising agency, but she wasn’t feeling fulfilled. She decided to take a few months to travel and discover what she wanted to do next in her career — then fate intervened.

“The day after leaving my role at the time, a former client reached out to ask if I could do some consulting work; a week later, another previous colleague reached out and asked the same,” Weber says. “Sweb was born.”

Two years into her high-demand consultancy, Weber brought in three full-time staffers; she expects her agency to double in size by the end of 2024.

“If you want people to know your business exists, to talk about you, and to buy from you … that’s when you call us,” she says.

Instead of “business woman,” Weber describes herself as a woman with a point of view — and one that’s forward thinking. She’s also proud of growing a team that believes in her vision.

“I am a person who identifies problems that could have clear solutions,” she says. “Every day, I try to effectively brand, build, and sell those solutions in a way that connects with people — the right people. When those people want to buy into you and it, that’s pretty special. It makes the invoicing, taxes, payroll and projections or ‘the business’ of it all so worth it.”

In September 2020, Weber started The Pittsburgh Web as a way to use her marketing powers for good. It has since grown to a community of more than 100,000 people and has had a major impact on stimulating Pittsburgh’s economy.

“I’ve helped small business owners sell out events. I’ve broken reservation systems. I’ve found strangers their new favorite restaurant,” Weber says. “I’ve earned the trust of all these people by simply sharing my authentic journey in this city, and I have chosen not to monetize to keep that integrity intact.”

She is now launching The Pittsburgh Web of Good, a philanthropic arm focused on training local nonprofits on effectively connecting with a younger generation of donors. She is in the process of seeking investors to bring her vision to life in 2025.
