23 Things To Do In The Summer of 2023 in Pittsburgh

Summer in the ’Burgh will be one long party now that activities are back in full force.

Beyond the outdoor concert series at local parks and amphitheaters, Summer Fridays at the Frick, Inside Out at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Cinema in the Park movies and special festivals at Kennywood and beyond, here’s our list of 23 events that will keep you hopping through the end of August.

Pittsburgh Pride Revolution.
Celebrating 50 years of Pride. Parade on
Saturday, June 3, with new Downtown route and return of floats and vehicles.  Also on June 3, Pride on the Shore 2023 Stage AE with co-headliners Ava Max and icon FLETCHER with Betty Who and JORDY. (Downtown, North Side and Bloomfield)

Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival.

10 days of free art and music. This year the Dollar Bank Main Stage will be at the intersection of Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Stanwix Street, and the Artist Market will line the boulevard between Sixth and Ninth streets. (Downtown)

Final Tour of Dead & Company. 
The band will perform two sets of music drawing from the Grateful Dead’s historic catalog of songs. (The Pavilion at Star Lake)

Pride Night.
Pirates vs. Mets. (PNC Park and Zambelli fireworks)

12th annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour. 
Downtown and the North Shore will be swarming with Swifties for two days! (Acrisure Stadium)

Juneteenth

Western Pennsylvania Juneteenth Celebration.
Includes Juneteenth – Grand Jubilee Parade on June 17. (Point State Park and Market Square, Downtown)

25 – July 30
OpenStreetsPGH. 
Streets are closed to cars through a few Pittsburgh neighborhoods and opened for bikes, scooters, skaters, skateboarders, runners, walkers, dogs, etc. Hosted by BikePGH. Routes to be announced.

29 – July 2
Anthrocon 2023. 
Nearly 10,000 furries are expected to return to Pittsburgh, aka Anthropolis. Participants were so eager to return that all hotel rooms sold out in 24 hours. (David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown)

Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival. 
Event in its 49th year draws 125,000 people. (Twin Lakes Park, Latrobe)

30 – July 8
Big Butler Fair. 
It’s the largest annual fair in Western Pennsylvania. (Butler Fairgrounds)

Flashes of Freedom Fourth of July Celebration.
The day will be capped by fireworks. (Point State Park, Downtown)

2023 National Senior Games. 
Pittsburgh again hosts this event (last time was in 2005) that will draw thousands of athletes ages 50 and older to compete in 20 sports. (David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown, will be the main hub)

2023 Pittsburgh Black Music Festival. 
Thursday: Jazz Tribute, Friday: Gospel Tribute, Saturday: R&B/Soul Tribute. Free. (Point State Park and Market Square, Downtown)

14 – 16
Northside Music Festival. 
Formerly the Deutschtown Music Festival, this typically draws 20,000 attendees. Free.

DVE Comedy Festival.
Randy Baumann and the DVE Morning Show present a line-up of comedians with Kyle Kinane along with Matt Braunger, Gareth Reynolds, Steph Tolev and DVE’s Bill Crawford. (Byham Theater, Downtown)

Picklesburgh. 
Voted No. 1 Best Specialty Food Festival in America for third year. All things pickled: pickle juice drinking contest, music, kid games and more. (Picklesburgh, Downtown)

TEKKO 2023.
Japanese pop culture event featuring cosplay, music, anime, gaming and more. (David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown)

4 – 5
AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival. 
Three stages will host a mix of local and national touring bands over two days, performing folk, blues, bluegrass, garage rock, indie soul and more. (Peoples Natural Gas Park, Johnstown)
