Downtown, CitiParks Farmers Markets Open in Pittsburgh
Squirrel Hill's location opens two weeks early on May 12 to celebrate Mother's Day.
Here’s a sampling of farmers markets kicking off in the City of Pittsburgh for the summer and early fall seasons. All offer free entry.
DOWNTOWN: The popular farmers market in Downtown’s Market Square opens Thursday, May 16, and runs weekly through Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It will feature 25 full-time vendors and 16 part-time ones, plus live entertainment by local performers on the Star Stage from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Here are the CitiParks 2024 Farmers Markets.
These will offer farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese and baked goods, flowers, small gifts and hot prepared foods to go. Note that the one in Squirrel Hill starts two weeks earlier than in past years – opening Sunday, May 12, with a special market to celebrate Mother’s Day.
SQUIRREL Hill: Sundays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
(May 12 – Nov. 24) Beacon/Bartlett parking lot, behind the businesses on Murray Avenue
EAST END in LARIMER: Mondays 3–7 p.m.
(June 17 – Nov. 25) Liberty Green Park, Larimer Avenue
CARRICK: Wednesdays 3–7 p.m. Carrick
(June 19 – Nov. 20) Carrick Dairy District, 1529 Brownsville Road
NORTH SIDE: Fridays 3 – 7 p.m. North Side
(May 24 – Nov. 22) Allegheny Commons Park, East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue
The North Side location will include a Beer Garden on the first Friday of every month, plus musical entertainment.
The Downtown Market Square and all CitiParks Farmers Markets accept food stamps (SNAP), credit and debit cards as part of Just Harvest’s Fresh Access program. SNAP shoppers can get fresh, nutritious and local-grown food, including produce, meat, dairy, bread and baked goods, produce plants, seeds and honey.
