Pittsburgh Magazine Makes Strong Showing at the Golden Quills Awards
The publication wins five awards, including in the new category for collaboration with PublicSource.
Pittsburgh Magazine won five awards Tuesday night at the 60th annual Golden Quill Awards sponsored by The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania. This included a win in a new category — Excellence in Collaboration — with the nonprofit newsroom, PublicSource.
Taking first place in Excellence in Journalistic Craft Achievement in Division 4: Page Design was Creative Director Huck Beard for “The Wall Street of Pittsburgh,” which appeared in our July 2023 edition.
The Excellence in Collaboration award was for “Power Shift: Dozens of the Pittsburgh Area’s Top Institutions Are Going Through Leadership Changes. The Turnover Could Echo for Decades,” the cover story for February 2023. Pittsburgh Magazine Staff and PublicSource Staff
Correspondent Emily Catalano took two awards: In the Lifestyle category, “The Private Lives of Baseball Wives” (April 2023) and in Sports, “The Ultimate Guide to Pickleball in Pittsburgh” (July 2023).
Longtime correspondent Cristina Rouvalis won in the Division 4 Arts/Entertainment category: “Giving Writers Back Their Voices: A Year After the Horrific Attack on Salman Rushdie, the Work of Pittsburgh’s City of Asylum Is Needed More than Ever,” which appeared in our August 2023 edition.
Pittsburgh Magazine also had six finalists in five other categories:
