A former corporate communication leader turned health and wellness coach, Niki Campbell, MS, NDTR, has made a business out of flourishing.

In 2019, the entrepreneur founded The Flourish Group with a focus on providing health coaching to busy professionals and stressed-out executives — then a global pandemic happened.

Seeing a need, Campbell expanded Flourish’s services to include workplace wellness programs.

“While we started as a company focused solely on traditional health coaching (physical wellness, nutrition, fitness, etc.), our direction has shifted,” Campbell says. “We’ve evolved to be a coaching and consulting firm that empowers people and organizations to embrace all aspects of wellness. From mental health and social wellbeing to environmental and financial wellness, our work touches nearly all the dimensions of what makes a person healthy and happy.”

Since 2020, Campbell has added both part-time and full-time staff to the company as the workplace wellness side of the business more than doubled. Last June, Flourish opened an office in the Connected Health Concierge Medicine Practice in Wexford in response to an increased demand for individual coaching.

“We believe that is the future of wellness and is why our team includes professionals with diverse areas of expertise across all health and wellness disciplines,” Campbell says.

A member of the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council, Dress for Success’ Monthly Giving Club and Inspired Women Paying it Forward North Pittsburgh, Campbell says giving back has always been one of her core values — and now it’s a value of her business, too.

“As a business, we are members of the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber, with our employees serving on the board and several committees,” she says. “We are also members of Pittsburgh Human Resources Association, Southwest Regional Chamber of Commerce, Pittsburgh Elevated and Emerging Leaders (PEEL) and several other local business and community service organizations.”

When it comes to succeeding in business, Campbell says not to let the fear of judgment, or the opinion of others, drive your decisions.

“If you’ve made the best decision for you, your family, your employees and your customers, who cares what anyone else thinks? Ask for advice but trust your gut and your brain,” she says. “It’s scary to put yourself out there and risk being judged, but it’s the bold and brave people who embrace that fear and still do big things that create positive change and lasting impact.”
