In 2014, Kelsie Baldé started as a stylist at Hair Enhancements of Pittsburgh, which creates custom wigs and hair toppers to help women and children experiencing medical and natural hair loss — and found a calling.

When company founder Debbie Mancuso retired in 2018, Baldé took over Hair Enhancements of Pittsburgh as owner.

“Under my leadership, we’ve expanded our services nationwide, offering online shopping and virtual consultations for toppers, wigs and related products,” she says.

A collaborative leader dedicated to fostering excellence through teamwork, Baldé embraces her managerial duties while continuing to work as a hands-on stylist, providing consultations and customizing hair pieces with coloring, cutting and styling.

“I care compassionately and deeply about our clients and what brings them in, whether it is age or stress-related hair loss, due to other medical treatments, or any diagnosis or desire to look and feel more like themselves,” she says. “I like to always keep ‘who’ and ‘why’ the center of my business model.”

As the business progresses, Baldé says she hopes to take her and her team’s skills well beyond the Pittsburgh area.

“Growing our online services to be able to serve a broader national and international market is a large focus of where we’re heading in the future,” she says. “While I’ve always anticipated taking the business in a more online direction for accessibility, the COVID-19 pandemic definitely shifted my focus to this area much more intently.

“I have learned to adapt to the drastic shift to limited in-person options, and I am glad how my team has worked to make our online services a viable path forward.”

A volunteer with Pittsburgh’s Pink Pamper nonprofit who also recently joined the board for the nonprofit Face2Face Healing, Baldé says she tries to stay as involved in the cancer community as possible, including attending events and fundraisers for various nonprofits throughout the Pittsburgh area.

“I’m really blessed that I get to help so many different individuals,” she says. “Being able to see the difference that it makes to each client day to day is the most rewarding part of this career, and I honestly look forward to helping improve the lives of everyone that comes to Hair Enhancements.”
