Twin Lakes Park is a Popular Lake-Duo in Westmoreland County
Both lakes are stocked with game fish by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and it’s a popular destination for ice fishing in the winter.
For a quiet walk or jog through a pristine lake ecosystem, try this lake duo in Latrobe. A figure-8 walkway circles both lakes — known as the Upper and the Lower — in a 2.5-mile, easy stretch in the shade. Reflection Island, on the Upper Lake, is designed for remembrance of loved ones who have passed, while the Vietnam Veterans of Westmoreland County Memorial (also on the Upper Lake, near Pavilion #2) is a beautifully designed reminder of those who served.
Take in a free concert on the Island Stage on the Lower Lake on summer Sundays, or take Rover to the dog park.
The Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival (scheduled for June 30-July 3, 2022) takes over the park every summer with an artists market, juried-art competition, live music, artisan foods, battle reenactments and children’s activities.
Both lakes are stocked with game fish by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and it’s a popular destination for ice fishing in the winter. While private watercraft are not permitted on the lakes, you can rent pedal boats, canoes and rowboats by the hour at the Boathouse, which also offers food, drinks and live bait. Don’t miss the annual Twin Lakes Father’s Day Fishing Derby (set for June 19, 2022), with trophies and prizes awarded.
The park’s Ferrier Family Life Trail, designed for older adults but open to all, is a wellness system with seven exercise stations and 20 activities on a 1,900-footpath.
