Pet Of The Week Strudel

Breed: Other
Sex: Male
Age: 9.2 years
Weight: 4.1 pounds

Meet Strudel!

Strudel is a nine-year-old senior bun who came to us after his bonded partner passed away and they could no longer care for him. He is currently living in a foster home. He loves to be pet, brushed and groomed. He enjoys chewing on cardboard – which is his favorite enrichment activity. Strudel’s vision is impaired, so he does not see too well. He would do well in a home with children 13 and older, who will respect his space. He could live with another rabbit pending a successful meet and greet.

Meet Buggz! Yes, it is Buggz! Just like Buggz Bunny. He is a one-year-old Flemish Giant, who weighs 10lbs, and thinks he is a lap bun! Buggz was an owner surrender when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He is a huge love bug who loves to be pet on the top of his head and his ears and wants everyone’s attention 24/7. He purrs when he is getting lovings, and tends to get a little bit sassy when you stop petting him, but he always means well! Buggz wants to be friends with anyone, and is always affectionate and curious about everything, but if you stop petting him, he will nip at your pants to get your attention. Breed: Florida White
Sex: Male
Age: 3.6 years
Weight: 7.3 pounds

Meet Kettle Corn!

Meet Kettle Corn! This 3-year-old bun owns up to his namesake, as he can be salty and sweet at the same time! He is a little on the shyer side and will need a family who will be patient with him while he adjusts to new people and the new environment around him.

Kettle Corn would do well in a home with children 13 and up, as well as a home with no dogs.

He could potentially live with another rabbit, pending a successful meet and greet! Interested?

Pittsburgh Pet Of The Week Parker

Breed: Mixed Breed (Large)
Sex: Male
Age: 3.4 years
Weight: 67 pounds

Meet Parker!

Meet Parker! Parker was brought in through our Humane Investigations Department after unfortunately being found in a crate inside of a dumpster. We don’t know much about this boy’s past, but we are working with him and getting to know him every day. What we have learned so far is that this smart boy is absolutely goofy, loves pets and cuddles, and is a ball of fun. We’ve also learned that Parker is dog reactive, so he needs to be the only dog in his home and should live with kids 13+. Parker’s ideal adopters should not live in communal housing and won’t be able to take him to dog parks, to help him avoid other doggies and be his best self. Parker is also currently undergoing muzzle training and is doing an incredible job with it! Parker is available as a Foster-to-adopt dog so that his future adopters get the best start with him and have access to our resources.

Are you falling in love with Parker yet?

Meet Macaroni!

Meet Macaroni! She is a female Domestic Shorthaired Tabby. She is about 9 years old and weighs about 6 lbs. This sweet girl came to Animal Friends when her owner could no longer care for her. She has been in our care for about two years now. Although Macaroni can be shy, she will slowly blink at you (a friendly cat greeting) once you gain her trust. She enjoys chin scratches and playing with feathers and pipe cleaners. Macaroni would do best as the only cat in her home – after all, she wants to be the big cheese and who doesn’t love Macaroni Salad? She would make a wonderful addition to your home! A perfect staple kitty companion. Do you think she’s the perfect cat for you?

Afi A 4827 2

Macaroni is currently living in a foster home. Her foster family says, “Macaroni has been doing so well. She is actually letting me hold her and is purring while I hold her. I swear she likes it ha ha. The pictures don’t do it justice! She is really coming out of her shell.”

Meet Jimmy!

This sweet boy is looking for his new home, after coming to Animal Friends when his owner could no longer care for him. He has made quite an impression on the staff, and he loves spending time working with staff in their offices for the day. Some of Jimmy’s favorite activities include lounging in the sun, sitting in the window watching the birds and talking about his day whilst sitting in your lap. He really enjoys relaxing with people and getting pets.

Jimmy does have stomatitis, which is a condition that causes inflammation of the mouth and throat. His future adopters will need to be comfortable administering medication for this condition. Jimmy has been a good sport with taking his medication. As a result, Jimmy may require regular grooming to help keep him clean, as it is more difficult with this condition to clean himself.

Jimmy may be able to live with other cats as well as dogs with proper introductions. Jimmy is also one of Yana’s “Special” Felines which means his requested adoption donation has been underwritten and he will be sent home with individualized started kit of supplies and other support based on his unique needs.

Meet Mandala!

This handsome boy made his way to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations department – through no fault of his own, Mandala has spent the last 3.5 years waiting for his court case to clear. Mandala is looking for an adult-only, single pet only home – and his ideal adopters should not live in communal housing and understand he should not go to dog parks, to help him avoid other dogs and be his best self. Mandala is also currently undergoing muzzle training and is doing an incredible job with it! Since Mandala has been with Animal Friends for a few years, our staff and volunteers have learned a lot of sweet but goofy information out about him – more specifically how he loves having his face massaged to help him fall asleep but also how he gets the zoomies that replicate a tornado.

This 60-lb. boy is also a part of our Foster-To-Adopt program, which means for 4 weeks our trainers here at Animal Friends will work with you and Mandala on his behavior and training within his new home to help him acclimate.

Aargh – Matey! Meet Pirate! This handsome boy came to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations Department in early November as part of a mass rescue group that included upwards of 64 cats. Pirate is one of the shyer cats in this group and at 2 years old, he is blind. This could be attributed to his shyness towards other people and animals. He will need a home that will give him the upmost patience as he settles in.

His foster family has made great progress with him every day and he has shown that with a little TLC, he starts to come out of his shell. Pirate loves his mouse teaser toy, and even though he doesn’t see much, he enjoys playing! This sweet boy deserves to find a loving and patient forever home.

Breed: American
Sex: Female
Age: 3.8 years
Weight: 6 pounds

Meet Winky Tart! This 3-year-old bun came to us when her owners had too many animals in the home and could no longer care for her. She is a bun who has little sass to her hop and can be quite territorial with her belongings, however, she will never deny the chance to be pet. Due to her spunky personality and her tendency to be a little on the shyer side, she would do best in a home with children 13 years and up.

If you’re interested in this gorgeous bun, fill out an application ThinkingOutsideTheCage.Org.

Meet Gigi! This gorgeous 4-year-old gal came to Animal Friends from our Humane Investigations Team. When Gigi first arrived, she was very nervous which lead to her being uncertain about trusting humans and going outside on walks. Gigi has since made wonderful progress and has become a staff and volunteer favorite! She enjoys her long walks around the campus. She loves to stop and smell everything. Her big ears are listening for her future family! Gigi is a high-energy, playful, bouncy girl who could live in a home with children 6 years and older. Gigi also needs to be the only dog in the home.

Look at that wonderful smile! This girl knows how to pose for the camera.

Say a big welcome to Wonder! Wonder came to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations Department. Our volunteers worked on gaining this shy guy’s trust as he adapted to his new surroundings. Now, Wonder resides in a loving foster home where he gets to relax and be himself. Wonder needs a calm, adult-only home where he will have time to adjust at his own pace. Can you imagine your life with Wonder?

Wonder is one of our Extra Loved residents. Although all of our resident animals get plenty of love, many of them come from backgrounds that require them to need a little extra. Extra care. Extra attention. Extra patience. They’ve certainly been extra loved here! If you have room in your heart and your home to give one of our special animals, check with our Adoption team to learn about our Extra Loved program and if there is any additional support we may be able to offer alongside your adoption! Princess and Snowy came to Animal Friends as an owner surrender. They are bonded sisters, both around 3-years of age. They are required to go home together as they prefer the company of one another. They are a bit shy when meeting new people but come around quickly and are super sweet! These two girls are irresistible. They do have to go to a home with children 13 years and older – and need to be the only pet(s) in the household. Princess and Snowy are waiting to find their forever home.

Moon Shoes And Beanie Baby

Moon Shoes and Beanie Baby were surrendered to Animal Friends in February. These delightful 9-month-old cats are bonded to one another, meaning that they need to go to their new home together! They may be a bit shy at first and need some time to warm up, but once they get to know you they are incredibly loving and affectionate.  We’ve found that these two love to play and their bubbly personalities shine bright during interactive enrichment activities. Although shoestrings are a big favorite of theirs, they love anything they can jump for or swat at and can spend the whole day chasing and trying to catch their toys! Moon Shoes and Beanie Baby would benefit greatly from an adoptive home that can slowly acclimate them to their new surroundings and be patient with them through the transition, as they will likely need some time before coming out of their shells.

Please read our adoption guidelines and start your application before coming to meet one of our cats in person. A typical adoption can take up to an hour. Please visit at least one hour before closing if you plan to adopt that day.

Friendly and fun, meet Fluffy! Fluffy came to Animal Friends when her owner was unable to continue to care for her. Fluffy is a sweet bunny who enjoys exploring, sleeping safe and sound in her hut and behind-the-ear scratches! Fluffy is very affectionate and enjoys attention. She would love nothing more than to find a home that she can spend her days investigating her surroundings, engaging in enrichment activities and getting lots of pets and brushing! Breed: Mixed Breed
Sex: Male
Age: 3.2 years
Weight: 67 pounds

Meet Parker! Parker was brought in through our Humane Investigations Department after unfortunately being found in a crate inside of a dumpster. You’ll find him irresistible! While we don’t know much about Parker’s past, what we have learned is that this smart boy is absolutely goofy, loves pets and cuddles, and is a ball of fun. We’ve also learned that Parker is dog reactive, so he needs to be the only dog in his home and should live with kids 13+. Parker is available as a foster-to-adopt dog so that his future family gets the best start with him and has access to our many resources.
