Fall Weddings 2020: Making a Plan
It seemed a little ironic that we had long ago decided our Fall 2020 Weddings issue would be “The Planning Issue,” and now the COVID-19 pandemic has made it so much harder to plan.
Couples who were supposed to get married this spring or summer either postponed or had to alter their plans, and recently engaged couples haven’t been able to proceed easily.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a gorgeous day, and it doesn’t mean that all planning advice is now irrelevant. As you’ll read in our feature story: “Guidelines to Getting Hitched,” aspects such as your budget and your aesthetic are a few places any couple can start with at any time.
You can also start thinking about ways to make your wedding unique to you. Christina Gilpin and Donna Hayes wanted their wedding to be fun for everyone involved, from designating a space in their venue as a game area to setting up a cotton candy machine. Shane Swigart and Katie Pallone wanted their day to be all about family, down to Katie’s father, a judge, officiating the ceremony. So did Enyinna Nwachuku and Brittany Moore, who incorporated aspects of Nigerian heritage into their reception to honor Enyinna’s background.
Each one of these Real Pittsburgh couples are beautiful reminders that with everything going on in the world, there are still so many ways to celebrate love.
